TAINTED PATRIOT

POETRY

Beware the moment all that I care to defend is gone. Never let your demons whisper louder than your angels can sing. Cryptic is my norm. Violent is my nature. The innocent who fear me are mistaken. The guilty...should. My patience is worn thin. My tolerance has been tested. My veneer of civility is like rice paper. Behaviors have consequences.

About

These are my poems. 35 years of deep thoughts. From adolescent angst to the perilous heights of lethal leadership, from the dread of parental responsibility to the aftermath of deadly actions. Peace comes only to the dead. Life is strife. Without tension, need or desire, there is no drive, creation or love. The real monsters wear masks that look normal. Until it is too late. I have finally found my fear. No, I will not tell you what it is.

TESTIMONIALS

I have chatted with Jon a few times over the decades. I always leave with a sense the man has more to say than he can allow himself. I believe much of that is in this little volume of poetry. It covers the mundane, the unthinkable, the unfathomable, folk wisdom applied to situations outside normal human experience. I would place Jon's voice squarely in the American West. His work reminds me of a chapbook full of cowboy poetry. But cowboys didn't tend to have as many experiences they couldn't share directly.

I have reread the poetry Jonathan has crafted from deep within his heart and mind. During his life Jonathan has been in places only satellites have known while he has served his country in ways that reshaped his soul. My favorite piece is titled 'Red Tape' which opens one's mind to a new meaning. I am buying two more copies to give as gifts.
